I just got the Infini-D 3.5 upgrade (VERY cool!) after years of working with version 2.6. I started out just trying to make a one piece head as an attempt to learn to deal with the capabilities of the cross-sectional modeler. Next thing I know, I've got this full out model of a marionette-type figure, complete with heirarchichal links and movement constraints (on most of the joints, not all), AND a six second sequence of him walking. Considering that this was a first effort, and a quick and dirty one at that, it turned out pretty good. The animation could be smoother, and I'm sure alot of time is still needed to make him "right". But, nonetheless, I thought I'd share him with the world. He's got a kind of cheesy Balsa wood surface., but all of the linked objects are set to "use parent's surface", so if you want to change it, you only need to change the TORSO object's surface. In the for what it's worth and/or to anyone who cares department, I made the walking sequence by first having him walk in place. Once the movements looked right, I then created a "marker" object which I positioned in front of whatever foot was stationary. I then could position the torso in relation to the marker. This helped to eliminate the infamous "ice skating effect" so common in walking sequences. I then deleted the "marker" after all the events were in place. Next, I'm going to try to find him some female companionship.... =========================================== Kicking 'n' Screaming Anything Online AOL 2.7 - SpecularI Online Downloads Man Walking Folder scanning run started. 9/25/96, 11:38:56 AM.
